About the project

Wholesale Impairment and Stress Testing team within risk function in HSBC is part of a global team that is responsible for wholesale impairment reporting and simulations under IFRS 9 standard for financial reporting and stress testing purposes.
You will be part of a process that reports impairment numbers and will be involved in measurement, management, calculation, controls and governance under both business as usual and stressed scenarios.
Your duties will also include contributing to change initiatives that structure, streamline and automate existing and new processes: Climate risk implications to impairments is on our agenda.
We are a truly global team with team members located across, Bangalore, Chennai, Edinburgh, London and Krakow collaborating with other Risk and Finance functions across entire HSBC network

Your responsibilities

  • Support stress testing review and challenge process to ensure highest quality of regulatory submission
  • Support forward economic guidance (scenarios of macroeconomic variables, their narrative and weights to be applied) governance process (reaching an agreement and approval to be used in other processes)
  • Support impairment simulations and analysis and speed up the analysis process using ‘out of the box’ ideas on solution development;
  • Support development of new credit risk analysis solutions using Excel, SAS, SQL, Python and QlikSense
  • Support change request, release management process as well as SOX controls
  • Collaboration with global and regional teams in risk, finance and relevant transformation functions where needed

Our requirements

  • Mandatory work experience in financial services or in consulting to financial services of 2+ years
  • Preferred but not mandatory bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, banking, statistics, econometrics, accounting or equivalent
  • Prefered but not mandatory prior experience in credit risk / market risk / fraud risk
  • Prefered but not mandatory IFRS9/ACS326 or stress testing or Basel framework related experience
  • Prefered but not mandatory stakeholder management / project management / process owner experience
  • Strong communication skills and out of box thinking is essential
  • Analytical thinking (ability to draw conclusions / critical insights from data)
  • Ability to work on projects with multiple work streams and deliverables
  • Mandatory MS Excel skills on intermedaite level
  • Prefered but not mandatory SAS or Python or VBA skills
  • Prefered but not mandatory SQL skills
