About the project

As Scrum Master, you will lead daily tasks, ceremonies, be the day to day management of the engineering and delivery teams based in Poland and leading the engineering delivery activities which involves the co-ordination between various internal and external engineering and architecture teams.
An experienced scrum master, you should be comfortable in managing a highly performant cross functional teams including software engineers. You own the day to day management of the team, including engaging and supporting of new team members and ensuring the team are able to perform at their best.
Being responsible for driving the technology delivery agenda, you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills at leading the ceremoniesand execution of a critical technology capabilities and features in a highly complex organisation.
Your strong stakeholder management skills will be vital as you will work with a vast cross section of consumers across multiple countries, business lines and levels of seniority.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage the one of the PODs for F24 Sub value Stream.
  • Ensure every team member has realistic objectives and support them achieving their goals.
  • Accountable for career development, talent management and team succession planning.
  • Manage regular people management administration tasks.
  • Be part of the front door process for all feature requirement asks coming into the team - understanding what can and can’t be built
  • Work closely with the Delivery manager, and Engineers to ensure technical requirements are practical and deliverable
  • Work closely with engineering leads and architects across HSBC and externally, to solve problems using technology which is available and approved. But also identifying new technologies and working with governance to get this technology approved, which will improve solutions we develop or buy
  • Facilitate the delivery of working software from concept to live using Agile methodologies
  • Help align business goals with release plans to ensure timely delivery of features
  • Fostering collaboration among teams and protect the team from external influences or distractions
  • Arrange and lead agile meetings, daily scrum, sprint planning, refinement sessions, discovery sessions, sprint review and retrospectives
  • Challenge to team to improve on process and inspire them to find new better ways of working
  • Help identify and mitigate delivery risks
  • Drive, track and communicate the progress of sprints and releases through team velocity and burn down charts
  • Enable the cross functional team to ensure they have all they need to deliver

Our requirements

  • Significant proven scrum master experience in a technology team.
  • Proven delivery management experience, especially in a large, complex organisation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong ability to consume a lot of information and focus on the right detail.
  • Very strong ability to context switch at ease between different areas of the delivery lifecycle, across different teams and time scales.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and financial acumen.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to wide groups of people across multiple seniority levels.
  • Must be able to influence easily and gain buy-in without alienating others.
  • Comfortable to be challenged by senior stakeholders on their own recommendations and justify their decisions.
  • Comfortable to challenge others and be very data driven in your approaches/decision making.
  • Ability to bring people on the journey with you ('sell the strategy')
  • Strong Technical background preferable using latest technologies
  • Strong practical experience and understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Successful experience with building the team both remotely and in the office
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy
  • Having worked in teams delivering complex projects on time and schedule, resolving problems at team and organization level
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven experience managing stakeholder and teams
  • Experienced in estimation techniques and planning for software development projects
  • Stakeholder management with statistics around tasks, backlog tracking, and burn down metrics, velocity, and user stories etc.
  • Demonstrable ability to self-manage, be proactive, take ownership, build relationships and drive solutions through from inception to production
  • Professional experience with tools such as Confluence and Jira
