Cloud Engineer (AWS)

Our requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, system engineering, or system administration.
• Practical knowledge of AWS services, particularly EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, AWS Backup, and AWS Organizations.
• Experience moving servers and workloads from on-premises environments to the cloud, using approaches such as rehosting, replatforming, or infrastructure consolidation.
• Good Linux administration skills, including system troubleshooting, security hardening, and automation.
• Understanding of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code practices; scripting knowledge in PowerShell or Python would be an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to work independently in a structured manner.
• Good command of English and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical team and business stakeholders.

Optional

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Exposure to Amazon Bedrock or other AWS-based AI services.
• Relevant certifications, for example AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator, or Microsoft AZ-104.

Your responsibilities

• Manage and enhance the AWS infrastructure, including account structure, landing zone configuration, network setup, security controls, and governance.
• Coordinate server migration activities from local data centres to AWS, covering infrastructure assessment, dependency analysis, migration scheduling, cutover, and post-migration improvements.
• Configure and support cloud connectivity, including VPCs, routing, site-to-site VPNs, and connections to offices and facilities across Europe, North America, and Asia.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, while automating routine operational activities.
• Establish and maintain cloud monitoring, centralised logging, backup processes, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Apply cloud security standards, including IAM configuration, least-privilege access, encryption, and security baselines, in collaboration with the security team.
• Track cloud resource consumption, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prepare regular reports on usage and expenditure.
• Assist with the development of the organisation’s multi-cloud environment, including initial work on the Azure platform.
• Keep technical documentation, configuration records, and operational guidelines up to date.
• Work with infrastructure operations, cybersecurity specialists, and external service providers to deliver reliable solutions.
