Our requirements

  • Professional Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a data-driven role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and machine learning (libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with relational and cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Solid foundation in statistics, probability, and experimental design (A/B testing, causal inference).
  • Hands-on experience building, validating, and deploying machine learning models in a business environment.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git), notebooks (Jupyter), and collaborative development practices.
  • Strong data visualization skills using Tableau, and Python libraries (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly).
  • Proven ability to translate business problems into analytical frameworks and communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in predictive analytics and machine learning, including forecasting, classification, clustering, propensity and churn modeling, recommendation systems, and optimization techniques.
  • Strong foundation in statistics and probability, including descriptive and inferential statistics, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, Bayesian methods, and experimental design (A/B testing, causal inference, uplift modeling).
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Educational Background: Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Business Analytics, or a related field is a plus.

Optional

  • Hands-on experience using Alteryx for ETL workflows, data blending, cleansing, and automating repeatable data pipelines across multiple sources.
  • Experience designing and building data marts to support analytical and reporting use cases, including dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas), data aggregation layers, and optimizing data structures for downstream consumption by BI and analytics teams.
  • Exposure to Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and prompt engineering frameworks.

Your responsibilities

  • Partnering with business stakeholders to understand challenges, define analytical problem statements, and translate them into structured data science solutions.
  • Performing exploratory data analysis (EDA), statistical testing, and hypothesis validation to uncover actionable insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Designing, building, and deploying predictive and prescriptive models, including forecasting, segmentation, churn, propensity, recommendation, uplift, and optimization models.
  • Applying advanced statistical techniques such as regression analysis, Bayesian methods, causal inference, and experimental design (A/B testing) to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Building and maintaining data marts and analytical data layers to support reusable, scalable analytics across the business.
  • Developing automated ETL workflows and data pipelines using tools such as Alteryx, SQL, and Python to enable efficient data preparation and reporting.
  • Translating analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives and visualizations for both technical and non-technical audiences using Tableau and Python visualization libraries.
  • Defining KPIs, success metrics, and measurement frameworks for analytical initiatives in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitoring model performance, retraining as needed, and ensuring models remain accurate, fair, and explainable in production.
  • Staying current with emerging tools, techniques, and trends in data science, AI, machine learning, and Generative AI to continuously elevate team capabilities.

About the project

As an Experienced Data Scientist, you will apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to solve complex business problems across Europe, ANZ, and Southern Africa. You will be a key member of a regional team of Data Scientists and Analysts, providing decision-makers with insights and predictive solutions that shape our strategic and commercial direction.
Reporting to the Data Analytics and Insights Manager, you will work autonomously on defined initiatives while collaborating closely with your peers-sharing knowledge, contributing to joint projects, and supporting one another to deliver high-quality outcomes. Furthermore, you will partner with senior stakeholders to translate business challenges into actionable analytical solutions and champion best practices in coding, documentation, and reproducibility to elevate the overall maturity of the team.
