Our requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with at least one enterprise RDBMS: Oracle (RMAN, RAC, Data Guard, Exadata), OR; DB2, OR; PostgreSQL, OR; SQL Server
  • Familiarity or willingness to adopt multi-platform environments including Cloud DB services (AWS, Azure, GCP, Ali Cloud)
  • Ability to script and automate using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible
  • Experience with enterprise IT operational processes for change, incident, and controlled production environments
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for varied audiences
  • Strong organisational capability—detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple concurrent priorities
  • High resilience; comfortable working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and participating in out-of-hours support when needed

Your responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver infrastructure initiatives such as platform evergreening, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning
  • Build and manage database environments, optimising server usage and cost performance
  • Ensure compliance by deploying patches and security updates within risk and governance frameworks
  • Evaluate new database technologies and cloud features, support pilot deployments, and develop proof-of-concepts
  • Provide internal consulting on database design, resilience, scalability, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies
  • Produce clear documentation for standards, implementation guides, and operational handbooks
  • Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis, including on-call support via rota
  • Report delivery progress and risks clearly and accurately to management and stakeholders
