  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, C++ and Distributed Systems.
  • 5 years of experience in a people management role within software engineering.

Optional

  • 10 years of experience with system architecture.
  • Experience with distributed systems and Google production infrastructure will be an advantage.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and grow a team of software engineers, provide active mentorship, coaching, and career guidance to both junior and senior engineers, fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
  • Guide, vet, and drive system architectures and strategies for Google's core infrastructure.
  • Partner closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to proactively triage, root-cause, and resolve complex production or system issues, driving systemic reliability and maintainability improvements throughout the stack.
  • Own strategic outcomes for multiple high-impact projects from the consensus portfolio, planning resources, establish Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), navigate ambiguity, and optimize project velocity to deliver against long-term goals.

This internship is intended for students enrolled in their penultimate/final year of education in an accredited full-time PhD degree program located in the EMEA region. Participation in the internship program requires that you are located in Poland for the duration of the internship program. Interns will be required to be available to work full-time for a minimum of 13 weeks over the Summer 2027 (starting in either May, June or July) for the duration of the program. Individuals applying for this position will not be eligible for immigration sponsorship.
