Manager Software Engineering (f/m)

Our requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied computer science, software engineering, a closely related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Several years of industry experience in software engineering as an individual contributor
• Familiarity with common software engineering principles (e.g., software testing and QA, distributed source control and branch management, CI/CD, code signing, refactoring)
• Very good communication skills
• Excellent written and spoken English (at least CEFR level C1)

Optional

• Degree or graduate certificate in leadership, management, engineering management, or business administration
• Master’s degree in computer science, applied computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field
• Experience with both class-based and prototype-based object-oriented programming (C# and TypeScript preferred) as well as web application and web service development
• Prior experience as a people manager or tech lead
• Working knowledge of management styles and when to apply them
• Experience with several software development models, in particular waterfall, V, and agile
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and laws such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• Working fluency in German (CEFR level B2)

Your responsibilities

• Leading the team that develops new features for and maintains clipx ENGINEER
• Conducting regular 1-on-1 meetings with all direct reports
• Continually developing the team further by identifying skill gaps, personal interests, and providing training and growth opportunities
• Setting annual goals and evaluating performance
• Partnering with project management and product marketing to staff projects and keeping them on track
• Working with internal and external partner teams
• Contributing to strategic personnel planning and hiring
• Serving as hiring manager in close collaboration with recruiters and the HR business partner
• Mentoring of team members, in particular Seniors, in non-technical areas such as leadership, communication, and collaboration
