Senior Business Intelligence (Power BI) Engineer

Our requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Power BI in enterprise environments - large semantic models, complex requirements, high-stakes delivery.
• Deep, hands-on Power BI expertise: semantic model design and optimization, DAX, RLS, perspectives, model internals - this is the primary filter.
• Proven experience building and maintaining very large semantic models under demanding performance and governance requirements.
• Solid Databricks experience - able to work confidently with data at the platform level, not just consume it.
• Mature Git practices in large projects: CI/CD pipelines, release management, automated branching and merging, branching model awareness (GitFlow, trunk-based, etc.).
• General Azure knowledge - comfortable navigating cloud infrastructure relevant to BI and data platform delivery.
• Hybrid mindset across BI, data, and DevOps - you think about the full solution lifecycle, not just the report layer.
• Strong communication skills - able to engage with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Fluent English, able to collaborate effectively across international teams.

Optional

• Experience with Power BI Deployment Pipelines and XMLA endpoints.
• Familiarity with Tabular Editor or similar model authoring tools.
• Knowledge of dataflow and lakehouse patterns in the Microsoft Fabric / Power BI ecosystem.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for BI-specific pipelines.
• Exposure to dbt or similar data transformation tooling upstream of the semantic layer.

Your responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining large-scale Power BI semantic models with deep attention to performance, correctness, and maintainability.
• Implementing advanced model features - Row-Level Security (RLS), perspectives, calculation groups, and model internals optimization.
• Working with Databricks as the underlying data platform, including querying, integration, and data preparation for BI consumption.
• Managing Power BI solutions through Git - version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated branching and merging strategies, and release management across environments.
• Applying and adapting branching models appropriate to enterprise BI delivery workflows.
• Working within Azure cloud infrastructure to support deployment, access management, and integration of BI assets.
• Collaborating with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to translate complex analytical requirements into robust semantic layer solutions.
• Contributing to standards, documentation, and best practices for BI development and release processes.
• Leveraging AI tools in day-to-day work to enhance productivity and output quality.
