Our requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial experience with Ruby
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails in production, including recent versions (Rails 7/8)
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ideally including running Rails applications on it
  • Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL or MySQL)
  • Experience writing automated tests with RSpec or Minitest
  • A proactive, ownership-driven approach and the ability to work autonomously
  • Upper-Intermediate English or higher

Optional

  • Experience migrating applications from on-premise infrastructure to the cloud
  • Experience in travel, e-commerce or booking platforms
  • Experience with background job processing (Sidekiq, Solid Queue) and caching (Redis, Solid Cache)
  • Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus) on the frontend
  • Experience upgrading Rails applications across major versions
  • Docker and infrastructure as code (Terraform) on GCP
  • Experience integrating with external APIs (suppliers, payment providers)
  • Experience mentoring or onboarding other engineers

Your responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain features in a Rails 8.1 application that serves real customer traffic
  • Take ownership of key areas of the platform, from design through to production
  • Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews and technical planning together with the team
  • Improve the reliability, performance and maintainability of the platform, including refactoring legacy parts where it pays off
  • Support deployments, monitoring and production troubleshooting across the current environments
  • Build and maintain integrations with third-party travel suppliers and internal services
  • Promote solid engineering practices: automated testing, CI/CD, clear documentation, sensible upgrade paths
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to turn requirements into well-scoped technical solutions
