About the project

We are looking for an Senior SDET Engineer you will work on our quality engineering initiatives throughout the engineering organization in combination with building and scaling our production environment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience, a passion for quality engineering, systems engineering, automating operations, infrastructure security, and high-availability systems as well as experience in software development. We are heavily invested in Ruby on Rails, Mongo, and ElasticSearch.
As a Senior SDET Engineer you will be a critical part of our growing company, working on a cross-functional team to implement best practices in technology, architecture, and process. Your responsibilities

  • Lead in implementing the overall testing strategy and methodologies for the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and software development goals.
  • Drive the adoption of CI/CD practices, ensuring automated tests are efficiently integrated and executed in deployment pipelines.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies, tools, and processes in software testing; evaluate and recommend their adoption to keep the organization at the forefront of testing best practices.
  • Lead root cause analysis for complex bugs and issues, working with development teams to ensure long-term solutions are implemented.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps/Infra team to improve our existing infrastructure and solve daily operational challenges and improve Engineering productivity.
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams at Apollo.
  • Database support with MongoDB, ElasticSearch, RedisCache and BigQuery.
  • Lead the design and development of advanced automated testing frameworks and tools that can scale and adapt to various projects and technologies.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to integrate quality assurance processes early in the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive the adoption of CI/CD practices, ensuring automated tests are efficiently integrated and executed in deployment pipelines.
  • Serve as a thought leader in software testing, mentoring and guiding QE teams, and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee and manage complex testing projects, coordinating with multiple teams to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality targets are met.

Our requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in developing software, automated frameworks and test automation tools
  • Strong experience with Linux (Ubuntu) and various types of databases
  • You possess a good knowledge of MongoDB or ElasticSearch
  • Experience with technologies like Docker, VPN, Kubernetes (strong experience with Kubernetes would be a preference)
  • Experience with Distributed Systems
  • Experience and good understanding of automation testing and frameworks like Cypress, Selenium, Cucumber, Playwright or Rspec
  • Exposure to modern backend programming languages - Java, Python or Ruby (at least one of them)
  • Experience with JavaScript and/or Typescript
  • Familiarity with cloud solutions GCP or AWS

    Optional

  • 5+ years of experience providing technical leadership and leading projects (e.g., test, release, etc.).
  • Experience developing/ designing automated internal frameworks, managing monitoring systems, or improving testing effectiveness.
  • Proven experience leveraging AI tools to enhance software development processes, including code generation, debugging, and productivity optimization. Candidates should demonstrate fluency in integrating AI-driven solutions into their workflows and a willingness to stay current with emerging AI technologies.
