Snowflake Engineer

Our requirements

• Proven experience with Snowflake and Snowpark for Python in production environments.
• Strong background in building complex data pipelines and calculation engines, including SQL and Python development.
• Experience with orchestration tools and implementing controlled reruns and reconciliation processes.
• Familiarity with automated testing approaches for data systems, data quality frameworks and lineage tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse and optimise Snowflake performance and cost, including query tuning and resource management.
• Good understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT principles and cloud data platform best practices.
• Effective communication skills and experience working collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in computer science, data engineering or a related field.

Your responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable data pipelines and calculation engines using Snowflake and Snowpark for Python.
• Develop and maintain orchestration workflows with controlled reruns, reconciliation processes and error-handling strategies.
• Implement automated testing frameworks for data pipelines, covering unit, integration and end-to-end tests.
• Establish and maintain data quality controls, monitoring, and lineage documentation to support traceability and regulatory requirements.
• Analyse query patterns and storage usage to optimise Snowflake performance and control costs through clustering, partitioning, caching and resource governance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineering, analytics, and product stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable solutions.
• Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks and handover materials to support operational readiness.
