Our requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in technical program management, systems engineering, or software engineering.
  • Experience managing multi-quarter technical programs across multiple engineering organizations.

Optional

  • Experience with SQL, data pipelines, and telemetry platforms to build authoritative program dashboards and metrics.
  • Experience designing operational frameworks, release safety guardrails, or incident post-mortem/remediation programs.
  • Experience identifying systemic toil and automating manual processes, including evaluating and adopting AI-assisted workflows.
  • Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems, compute/cluster management, machine lifecycle/repair workflows, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) operational principles.
  • Proven track record of taking complex, unstructured problem spaces, defining crisp problem statements and architectures, and driving them to measurable landing.

Your responsibilities

  • Partner with SRE and Dev leadership across Compute, Storage, and Platform engineering to define multi-quarter technical roadmaps, align shared OKRs, and influence resource allocation.
  • Drive large-scale horizontal infrastructure programs from ambiguous inception through validated landing.
  • Advocate for systemic reliability and release safety compliance (canary gating, rollout policies, production touch governance) by establishing durable SRE–Dev review forums, tracking Postmortem Action Items (PMAI) hygiene, and integrating systems metadata frameworks to scale operational leverage.
  • Design and maintain canonical dashboards, analytical data pipelines, and metrics suites to establish single sources of truth and eliminate release toil.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and change agent during organizational pivots and policy modernizations, while proactively identifying opportunities to integrate AI-assisted tooling into program management workflows.
Company

About the project

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
As a Technical Program Manager in Infrastructure SRE, you will lead high-impact, cross-organizational initiatives that safeguard and scale Google’s core compute backbone. You will operate at the intersection of cluster management, machine lifecycle systems, developer platforms, and production safety.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
